CertainTeed Construction in Monte Sereno, CA | Brookside Contractors
We’re Brookside Contractors, an independent CertainTeed service provider working across Monte Sereno’s hillside homes. We install and repair CertainTeed roofing, siding, gutters, and related systems, and we know exactly how these products hold up on large, sloped lots where summer heat and winter storms do real work. If you need a straight answer on your CertainTeed roof or siding, call (833) 725-3508 for a free estimate.
Monte Sereno is a tiny city with no commercial base. That means every CertainTeed job here is residential, custom, and code-scrutinized. We’ve built our approach around that reality: boutique infill work, not tract housing or strip malls. See our CertainTeed sales & service page for the full scope of what we handle.
Why Monte Sereno Residents Choose Us for CertainTeed Service
Nate Burrell, our owner and general contractor, trained in construction technology at Gavilan College in Gilroy and spent nearly two decades on job sites throughout South Santa Clara County. He grew up in Morgan Hill watching half the neighborhoods get framed up, and he’s been on enough Monte Sereno roofs to know what CertainTeed products do after fifteen years of south-facing sun and oak-leaf debris. We also provide Cambrian Park CertainTeed service with the same hands-on expertise. We don’t guess at failure modes; we’ve pulled them apart.
Our work here covers the full CertainTeed system: Presidential Shake TL, Landmark Pro, Cedar Impressions siding, and Symmetry gutters. We keep OEM accessories like SwiftStart starter strips and Shadow Ridge vents in our inventory for fast turnaround on Monte Sereno jobs. When a repair calls for flashing or fasteners, we use aftermarket materials that meet or exceed OEM specs. That’s not a downgrade; it’s selecting the right parts for the actual problem. One contractor, every phase.
This is our Monte Sereno service area, and we treat it that way. Call (833) 725-3508 and you’ll get a written line-item quote before we touch anything.

Common CertainTeed Construction Problems We Solve in Monte Sereno
- Presidential Shake TL granule loss on south-facing slopes. Monte Sereno’s summer heat is brutal on steep southern exposures. We regularly see the top layer of granules worn off, exposing the fiberglass mat underneath. That’s a fire-safety concern in wildfire country, not just a cosmetic issue. We assess whether targeted repair or full replacement makes sense.
- Landmark Pro shingle blistering on older ranch homes. Many mid-century ranch houses in Monte Sereno still have original insulation blocking the intake vents at the eaves. Hot air gets trapped in the attic, and Landmark Pro shingles curl and blister along the edges. We fix the ventilation first, then the roof.
- Cedar Impressions siding moisture intrusion on west-facing walls. Winter storms slam the west side of hillside homes. When flashing wasn’t updated during an earlier remodel, butt joints let water in and paint fails. We see it constantly on west-facing walls above the tree line.
- Symmetry gutter clogging on wooded lots. Oak and redwood debris plugs Symmetry gutters fast. Overflow backs up against the fascia and rots the roof edge metal CertainTeed installed. We address drainage as part of every roofing job, not as an afterthought.
- Flashing failures at roof-to-wall transitions. Hillside additions in Monte Sereno often tie into existing roofs at awkward angles. When the original flashing is reused or improperly stepped, leaks show up within a season or two. We replace it right.
CertainTeed Service in Monte Sereno: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Here’s something you won’t read on a generic CertainTeed page. Monte Sereno is fully built out. There’s no new tract housing, no commercial expansion. Nearly every CertainTeed roof replacement in the 95030 ZIP sits on a large custom home where the original roof was installed over skip sheathing: spaced boards, not a solid deck. When we tear off the old shingles, we often find gaps between the boards big enough to drop a hand through. City inspectors in Monte Sereno scrutinize that deck replacement closely because they know exactly what’s under these roofs. If you’re planning a CertainTeed roof replacement on a hillside home in Monte Sereno, plan for the deck. It’s not an upsell. It’s what the structure actually requires, and the permit process will enforce it.
CertainTeed Models & Products We Service in Monte Sereno
We work on the CertainTeed lines that dominate Monte Sereno’s custom homes and older ranch stock. Presidential Shake TL for estate-grade curb appeal. Landmark Pro for dimensional shingles with better wind and impact performance. Cedar Impressions for siding replacement where wood maintenance has become a liability. Symmetry gutters for homes where drainage on sloped lots is non-negotiable.
Our parts approach is direct: OEM for warranty compliance on new installations, quality aftermarket for repairs where spec matching matters more than the logo. We don’t stock every CertainTeed SKU, but we know what’s available locally and what has to be ordered. For Monte Sereno homeowners, that usually means a roof replacement can be scheduled within days, not weeks, once materials are confirmed.

FAQs – CertainTeed Construction in Monte Sereno
Yes. Given Monte Sereno’s wildfire exposure at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains, the city’s building department requires Class A fire-rated roofing on new installations and major replacements. CertainTeed Presidential Shake TL and Landmark Pro both achieve Class A ratings when installed with the full system: proper underlayment, ember-resistant vents, and the right starter strips. Ask us about the specific assembly the inspectors will want to see. Call (833) 725-3508 and we’ll walk you through it.
Often, yes. A single leak around a flashing point or a damaged shingle doesn’t always mean a full replacement. We’ll assess the attic, the deck, and the surrounding shingles. If the surrounding material is solid and the leak is isolated, a targeted repair makes sense. If the deck is rotting or the shingles are near end of life, we’ll tell you. Call (833) 725-3508 for an honest assessment. Estimates are free.
Symmetry gutters on Monte Sereno’s oak and redwood lots need a drainage plan, not just hangers. We size for leaf load, add guards where the canopy is heavy, and slope the runs so overflow doesn’t sit against fascia. On a wooded lot, we won’t install gutters without addressing the roof edge metal behind them. It’s one system. Call (833) 725-3508 and we’ll come look.
You should expect a full deck replacement. Skip sheathing is spaced boards, and modern shingle systems require a solid deck. That means tearing off to the framing, installing plywood or OSB, and then building up the new roof. City inspectors in Monte Sereno will want to see the deck before we proceed, and they’ll inspect the final fire-resistant assembly. It adds to the cost, but skipping it isn’t an option. Call (833) 725-3508 for a scope that includes the deck from day one.
We offer a workmanship warranty on our installations, and your CertainTeed materials carry their own manufacturer warranty when installed to spec. We’ll give you the details in writing before work starts, so you know exactly what’s covered and for how long. Call (833) 725-3508 and ask us for a sample warranty document.

On a steep hillside lot in the 95030 hills, we replaced a 20-year-old CertainTeed Presidential Shake TL roof that had lost granules on the south slope and was vulnerable to ember intrusion. We tore off to the skip sheathing, installed a new Class A fire-rated underlayment and ember-resistant vents, and finished with CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles. The city’s building department signed off after a detailed inspection of the new deck and fire-resistant detailing. Do it once, do it right: everything else is just a future repair bill.
